These modules and resources are here to help you adjust into the college lifestyle and keep on track for your goals!

Modules

Taking tests and getting organized

Like Diana Nyad, you are on your expedition. You may have to try a few times to pass certain classes. Just like Diana, you will need a “crew” of experts with you, and unlike Diana, your goal is not to get to Florida, it is to graduate. Similar to her journey, your college journey is just as Diana says, “it looks like the most solitary endeavor in the world, an in many ways of course it is, and in other ways, and the most important ways, it’s a team.”

Use her mantra, “find a way”. When you are stressing out, or crying over a test or a huge paper, Find a Way. There are resources out here. Use them.

Being proactive, goal setting and time management

These seem like very common sense approaches to studying, but not many students put themselves in the right situation to study. It may seem like extra work, or even boring, but that is exactly what we need to do in order to get results! But as always, it is your choice. Your choices will have consequences, whether they are positive or negative is ultimately up to you.

Time management isn’t about managing time, it’s about managing yourself. Like Laura said in the video, “Time will stretch to accommodate what we choose what you do with your time wisely; you will be able to have more time for the fun, spontaneous moments because they have done what they need to do.

Library and Writing services

Reading and writing papers are what you will be doing most of the time while you are in college and in order to be successful you need to know how to research and write papers at the college level. Making positive financial choices

There are many community resources available for college students both on and off campus. Health, wellness, & overcoming stress

Health & wellness play a major role in your success and persistence. It is important to be and stay healthy because it can affect all aspects of your life! Often times students get overwhelmed and have a hard time reaching out for assistance or do not know that they need it. We want you to feel safe and know that here at C4 Academy, we do care about your well-being. Also know that the counseling center, recreation centers and student health centers are available to you if you require services.

Choosing a major and career

It is a common assumption that a career starts when you get your first official full-time job after college. This is not the case. The career starts the minute you volunteer or accept any type of job. For some students, this happened in high school, for others you are just starting. This is the beginning of learning valuable skill sets such as office work, processes, communication skills, time management, etc. It is also the beginning of your networking and “work” reputation. This is also going to let you understand and know if you will like and see certain jobs as something you will want to commit to or if it is something you would rather stay away from.
