Welcome to the 12th Grade College Track!

This is your last year of high school! Congratulations! This is probably the busiest year of your high school career. these modules will hopefully make your life easier and more successful.

Modules

The plan of study is to help you map out how to reach your career, also known as your goal. Most of you have 1 to 7 years before reaching a career, so it’s important to use this time to prepare for it.


Resume Building

If you have a resume, this is the time to update all of the things you have done over the summer. If you do not, Use this document to assist you in building your resume to begin applying for part-time jobs and your future careers. This resume will change with you as you grow through school and beyond.


College Prep

College Entrance essay is a simple essay that talks about you. several colleges require some sort of essay as part of the entrance requirements. Several scholarships will ask for similar essays.

A cover letter allows us to tell a potential employer a little bit more about ourselves, along with explaining what position we are interested in and why.

College applications can range from $25 to hundreds of dollars. Make sure that you are proofreading the entire application package before submitting. College Applications are the first impression of you.

Now that your resumes are updated and you interview skills have been honed, it’s time to find some free money! Some say there is no such thing as free money, but we disagree. Scholarships and Grants are Free money!

It is never too early to start attaining money for college. There are thousands of national scholarships, go and find the ones you want to apply for!

College can be a financial burden to you and your family. Scholarships are the best way to pay for college. If you are unable to pay the full amount in scholarships and personal money, you can look for other ways to pay for it. The most common is to obtain a loan. Most colleges and universities are eligible for their students to receive loans from the federal government.

As you know, everything you do in order to be ready to go to college has a deadline. This should help you with those. Go through the checklist and put a check mark next to each item as you complete it, then create a plan of attack to complete the rest!

Life Skills

We make thousands of decisions each day, some are small and some are so big that it can affect the rest of our life!

When scheduling classes, especially college classes, you have to be aware of your time commitment. Having a schedule can show you what time you have available for things such as part-time work, extracurricular activities, etc.

Having a budget is essential, especially once entering college. many of you will be venturing out on your own with expenses such as rent, utilities, car payments, etc. Managing you expenses and income lets you know what you have on hand and helps you with planning for activities such as sporting events or outings with friends!
